This is a solidly democrat district with little change with redistricting. The old district covers Fruitland Twp, North Muskegon, and Laketon Twp which are GOP friendly at times, but also has all of the City of Muskegon, Muskegon Twp, and Muskegon Heights which are all strongholds for the dems. The district overall is 26.7% black largely due to Muskegon Heights and Muskegon, and that is more than enough to ensure this stays democrat. The new district also has Whitehall Twp, which leans democrat, although not to the level of the three strongholds. This district has been democrat for years, and isn't likely to change anytime soon.
