That was much closer than expected win for a democrat in a Bay City based district. The district did change slightly with redistricting, but not heavily. It drops Auburn, Williams Twp, and the small part of Midland, and picks up Kawkawlin Township. The whole area is union, so there's not a lot of changes in partisanship. This is a yellow dog, moderate democrat district, tailor made for the Jim Barcia types. Pro-life, pro-gun, pro-union. They will vote for liberals over republicans in most cases.
Despite the 2010 numbers, I think Brunner is if not safe, almost safe. There's just too much tradition here currently.
