Attorney bids to replace retiring judge

Fowlerville attorney Linda Walker announced Wednesday she is seeking retiring District Judge A. John Pikkarainen's seat in the November election.
She joins Brighton attorney Carol Sue Reader in the race.
Walker, of Unadilla Township, hung out her shingle in Fowlerville after graduating from the Thomas Cooley Law School in 1982.
The University of Michigan graduate has also participated in many community endeavors. However, she says, she "did not keep track of the exact dates of participation as she had not contemplated running for judge" until Pikkarainen decided to retire.
"I thought it would be good for me to run," she said. "(Pikkarainen) had strong ties to the western side of the county. I do, too. I think it's important for all sides of the county to be represented on the bench."
The other reason Walker is running?
